Merry Christmas to all

I just wanted to take a moment and wish all of you a joyous and meaningful Christmas holiday this year.  From my family to you and yours, we want you to know that we are very thankful this year for all God has done for us.  It has been a hard, but very rewarding and worthwhile year at the Bartell house.  We moved (again!) after boldly declaring that we would not be doing that for a looooong time!  (Don’t ever make dumb statements like that.)  But God has landed us here in Ohio, in another “foreign mission field,” where we did not know anyone or have any family – yet He immediately provided the desperately needed support and friendship through our First Baptist Church family.  To all of you out there from FBC, “THANK YOU” for receiving us so warmly in 2009.

To any of you reading this that do not understand what all the fuss about Jesus is about, may I humbly suggest to you that you consider that He is your only true Hope?  Christmas is not about the lights and the songs and the parties.  It is about God loving you so much that He sent His Son Jesus Christ to this earth to live a perfect, sinless life, die a horrible death on a cross to pay for your sins, and yet rise from the grave after three days – conquering sin, death and hell!  God quietly whispers to you that He has purchased the most expensive, precious gift for you, personally:  Eternal life!  He is politely extending His hand, offering you this gift, free of charge to you, and secretly begging you to receive it.  Will you receive it today?

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Romans 10:9-10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
