A "bottom line" kind of guy

Livin’ Large

Not every day in our lives is exciting.  We do what we don’t love so that we can get to the opportunities to do what we do love.  This has been a great week or so for me.  My heart is for ministry.  I love a challenge.  I guess that’s why I love missions.  I love missionaries.  Those wonderfully weird people that willingly leave everything that most of us enjoy daily – because they see the world through God’s eyes.  I truly believe God has special rewards for such people.

Matthew 19:29-30 And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life. But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.

In the past 10 days, I have been in communication with the following:

  • 2 pastors in the Philippines discussing theology and the practice of Biblical church discipline.
  • A missionary in the Dominican Republic who “gets it” – he has a solid understanding of what effective ministry is all about and has a good strategy for his churches there to reach out to Haitian refugees on the border of Haiti and the DR.  We will be sending our support to him to help with the Haiti crisis.
  • 2 missionaries in Peru discussing the details of a trip to visit them both this July.
  • The pastor of our church in Albania discussing 2 big conferences this Spring: one for his local church and the other to be held in Macedonia discussing the greater picture of sending missionaries from the Balkan nations out into the world.  (More on this later.)
  • A friend who is praying about moving out to California to help start a church.
  • 2 pastors from NW Ohio who are interested in the ministry of discipleship.  We may be taking a team there before too long.

Wow!  I think God is getting us ready to have some fun if we want it!  I want it!  If you’re a part of our ministry here at FBC, you might want to get on board now – on the ground floor – and buckle up, cuz it’s gonna be a wild ride!  I can’t wait!

Sounds great. I’m willing to do whatever is needed. If you need me to do something, let me know. I’ll do whatever I can.
