An evil spirit from the Lord

Last Sunday we studied 1Samuel 16:1-13.  We dealt with that famous saying from v.7 “… for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.” We made some great comparisons of the things of the outward appearance to the things of the heart.  The application is for us to keep the right priority in our lives.  Our inner man should have priority over our outer man.  You can listen to that message here:

Staring in 1Samuel 16:14, we find an unusual phrase repeated several times for the remainder of the life of King Saul.  The Bible says, “But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him.” What could that be?  Well, last year we had a time of Bible questions and answers where we addressed this very thing.  Since we are not going to be studying the remainder of 1Samuel 16 this Sunday, I thought I would make that Q&A session available for you here.  (It is the 3rd question answered.)

Some things require that we study a little more to fully understand.  May God open your understanding to better understand His word in it’s full context!

Isaiah 28:13 “But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little;”
